Hi, I would like to program an STM32F103 chip (on the STM32F10X-128K-EVAL board) using SWD instead of JTAG. I can't find any documentation on how to do this. If I move the jumpers on the JTAG-SWD adapter from JTAG to SWD and then try to program the board, it gives me an error saying "Unable to read IDCode. Please check that the target is connected." Thanks. |
Hi,
SWD is not handled by the software for now.
It will be available in the next version of RIDE for ARM.
It works here, but still in validation.
Note that you will NOT need to change the jumpers. You'll just keep them in the 'JTAG' position. This is a mistake we made on the adapters.
Best Regards,
Vincent
Hi,
Thanks for the info. The primary reason we decided to go with Rlink was because it was listed as having SWD capability (our design uses SWD--not JTAG). Do you have any idea when it will be made available? Can you suggest of any replacements that can be used in the meantime?
Hi,
Please point me precisely to where we say that RLink supports SWD. It does not do so yet, even if it will very soon, so we need to change the website if it says something else.
In the meantime, I can only offer you to participate in the validation of the next version of RIDE, with everything it implies. (potential bugs and regressions, etc.)
If you want to do this, please send an email to 'support@raisonance.com' requesting it, and precise that the request goes to Vincent. (me ;) )
Best Regards,
Vincent
Hi,
I don't know where the SWD capability info came from. Here is one reference to it (but from ARM...maybe from an old Rlink press release?):

It's probably not worth your time to search through all your announcements/software/etc if the capability will be implemented soon.
Hi,
Yesterday we released a new official version of the Ride and ARM kits (and STM8/ST7), that will allow you to use SWD:

For all customers who were using patches, test versions, etc., we recommend you switch to this new official version, which includes all the temporary fixes made on the previous version. (see the release notes on the same web page for more info)
Best Regards,
Vincent
