Hi, we use PSD8xx in our application. We use FlashLink adapter for programming PSD8xx and we have big problems with parallel port addressing.
We have several questions:
- Can we use RLink programmer for programming PSD8xx?
- Can we use RLink programmer with PSDSoft Express software and which version?
Thank you in advance for you reply.
Regards Zdenek.

Hi

I think this family is not supported, please refer to the following to find
all supported devices by RLink.

Hi,

The list pointed by Matloub is the list of devices supported by the Raisonance software. And indeed it does not include the PSDxx devices. Only uPSDxx.

However, the latest version of the PSDSoft and CAPS software from ST can connect to the PSD8xx devices using the RLink. I don't know the version number. I suggest you just take the latest from ST's website, or ask ST support.

I hope it helps.

Best Regards,

Vincent

Hi VincentC,

we also use PSD8xx with Rlink and PSDSoft Express 865.
Everything works fine on Windows XP.

Now I had to change my Laptop to one with Windows 7.
On Windows 7 it is not possible to install PSDSoft Express 865!
The Message is that it "requires 95 (..), 98, ME, 2000, NT or XP."
Is there a version of PSDSoft available that runs on Windows 7?

And: Does Ride7 or Rflasher7 support PSD8xx?
(I didnt catch it by now)

Regards

Hi,

As far as I know, there is no version of PSDSoft that runs in Win7. (or even Vista) Maybe CAPS does, but this is a question you should ask to ST rather than Raisonance.

Ride7/RFlasher7 only supports the "uPSDxxx" microcontrollers, not the "PSDxxx" memories. However, you should be able to program your PSDxxx devices using the PSD_pgm.exe utility that is installed along with RKit-51.

Vincent

Hi VincentC,

I don't know how to handle PSD_pgm.exe. When I click on it, the only thing I see is the flash of a system-window that closes immidiately.
Does PSD_pgm.exe need some parameters in the command line?

->
Now I got it: invoking "PSD_pgm" in a cmd-Window, I got all the parameters.

...But our PSDsoft outputs a jcf-File. What is the difference to a JCI-File?

Hi,

For using PSD_pgm you need a jci file and an osf file.
Both can be generated by PSDSoft, the examples and doc in PSDSoft should show how.
(If not please ask ST support.)

I think the jcf file is something else, that PSD_pgm cannot use. (PSDSoft config maybe)

Vincent

Hi,

it appears to be a dead link.

Meanwhile I'm completely helpless how to programm PSD813 with the upcoming Win7-PCs. I have no clue.
ST support didn't answer yet.

Hi,

Did you give a try at CAPS? This is a newer verion of the PSDSoft utility, also from ST.

It was not updated since Win7 was released, but it is much more recent than the latest release of PSDSoft and might be running in Win7, in some compatibility mode.

In last resort you could probably take the jci file from one of the examples, and dump the content of the flash to an osf file from a device that you programmed under XP...

Best Regards,

Vincent
