I am having problems with programming ST7Flite02 devices with the R-Link programmer. I regularly have a problem with the message "Problem while downloading monitor", but we are unsure what to check to cure the problem. Sometimes it starts again if the R-Link is swapped for another unit, sometimes it consistantly has the problem. We had just programmed several units, then started getting the message, and haven't been able to program any subsequently. The adapter and wiring have been checked. On my Vista PC it has this problem every time, I will run though the steps to update the driver I have found elsewhere. At the moment it is occuring on a PC running XP. |
Hi,
This problem is very probably NOT related to the version of Windows, nor to the USB driver. Windows and USB problems, unless if related to the use of some USB hubs and a lot of other USB peripherals, usually result in complete unability for the PC to connect to RLink, not errors that come sometimes, and not errors of RLink connection to the target CPU.
You don't need to check this until we have ruled out some other, more probable, potential error sources.
Now, I will need more information for helping you. (BN of RIDE, board schematic, ...) Please fill this form and send the answers to "support@raisonance.com":

Best Regards,

I am new to RLINK and Raisonace but not embedded software. I am "inheriting" a design on an ST7MC2 processor. They used Cosmic and ST Visual and I am trying to get STVP to talk to the chip through a RLINK I just bought. Windows seemed to instal the driver when I first pluged it in and as far as I can tell I have everything hoooked up right but I continuously get this message with any kind of operation:
Error : Cannot communicate with the board. Wrong board selection or check board power supply
Error : < PROGRAM MEMORY erasing failed.
Question 1: Is there a utility of some kind that tests to see if RLINK is functional? (i.e. the USB driver etc.)
All I have is a green power light on, busy and run are off.
Looking at this target board schematic; the 10pin makes sense as far as ground and vcc pins except that the RLINK puts out a 12MHz clock on pin 9 (n/c on this board) -my customers schematics show Icc Clk on pin 4 but again, I don't know this tool and my customer says this is what he has been told the x-consultant used. So...
Question 2: Does anyone have an RLINK target pinout, jumper settings etc. I have been struggling to find a simple datasheet / user manual that actually describes it or has schematics on the website as opposed to marketing brochures.
Any help/suggestions are much appreciated.
Thanks! - Dave
You will find some help at:

Encountered problems are often around the reset management (RLink must be able to drive the reset pin of the target mcu).
Hi Dave
Here are some more information that might help you in case you did not installed our software:
Question 1
You can test that RLink is correctly installed running "RLinkCapab.exe".
It will connect to RLink and tell you what is its serial number or give you a error message if it does can not.
Here is the link to find this executable:
ftp://www.raisonance.com/RLink/RlinkCapab.zip
Question 2
In addition to the link refered by Francis you can also have a look at this page:
