I have recently taken over firmware development for one of our projects based on the STM32F103VCT6.

I am having significant problems debugging with the RLink-Pro In-Circuit debugger & Ride7.

I compile the code with all optimisations turned off, when the code is downloaded to the emulator I often find that the lines marked in pink on the left-hand side for breakpoints do not line up with the source code. I also often find that when the marked lines do line up that breakpoints are either completely ignored or the code breaks at some other random point in the code & occasionally results in a Hard Fault Exception. Even when the debugger is working correctly, once I hit a break point I do not seem to be able to view either local or global variables.

As I am new to Ride7 & have not found people screaming about the issue on this forum then I guess it is either me doing something wrong or have not set up correctly. Can anyone shed any light on what I can do to get the debugging working correctly.

Version Info :
Ride7 : 7.30.10.0159
Ride7 Patch : 7.30.10.0169
RKit-ARM for Ride7 : 1.30.10.0356
Operating System : Windows 7 Pro SP1

Please let me know if there is any other info needed.
Best regards
Paul

Hi,

You are using some very old versions of Ride and RKit-ARM, which contain several known problems and are not supported any more.

Before anything, you must update your software using the latest versions available here:
http://support-raisonance.com

(You don't need a patch any more)

Best Regards,

Vincent

Hi Vincent,
thanks for the reply - my original post does give the versions I am using.

I believe the version of Ride7 is the last version that will work with our version of RKit-Arm. Are these versions still supported ?

best regards
Paul

Hi again,
I misread your reply.

I looked at your link & the RKit-ARM does not appear to be available for download, what do I need to do to obtain this? Is it a matter of buying a new licence?

In the event of needing to purchase a licence, have any of my problems been reported & known to be fixed - I can't see any reference in the release note. It will be difficult to justify expenditure to my boss if I don't know if it will address my issues.
best regards
Paul

Hello, To be able to download the latest release you need to be logged in. You can find all the installation/activation process on the download page for the RKit. Click on Product Downloads to access those pages. If your support contract is not valid you should update it. This will allow you to install and activate the latest release.
