Q. I had Ride6 on my machine and I can't install Ride7, why not ?
A. The Ride6 installer creates the registry key "HKLM\Software\Raisonance" without assigning it an owner. This works fine on Windows 2000 and previous versions of Windows, but causes a security issue on Vista and subsequent Windows versions.
The easiest way to resolve this problem is to:
- Uninstall all Raisonance software. You can use the uninstall_raisonance tool available from ftp://www.raisonance.com/pub/Utils/.
- Open regedit.exe, navigate to "HKLM\Software\", and ensure that the "Raisonance" registry key has been deleted.
- Install Ride7 on your machine. This creates a "HKLM\Software\Raisonance" registry key with correct rights.
A simple trick can be used in order to check if this is your problem: Run regedit.exe and navigate to "HKLM\Software\".
- If there is a "Raisonance" key you won't have any problem.
- If there is a "RAISONANCE" key (uppercase) you will NOT be able to properly install Ride7, and you must perform the sequence described above.
