Hello,

are there any plans to support the trace feature of the Cortex M3 Core with the RLink debugger? This would be a nice feature and encourage me in my decision to use the Ride7 IDE.

Best Regards

Yes, this feature has been implemented under RIDE7. It will be available first for the next 'Primer'.

Hello Francis,

This sounds very good. One last question. With next primer, do you mean, next software os release for primer or the
hardware release aka "primer 3"?

Hi,

The hardware of the currently existing RLinks (all versions: stand-alone, REva or Primer) does not allow to implement the trace features provided by the Cortex.

So this will require some new hardware, ("Primer3", ...) not just software or firmware update.

Vincent

I am on the lookout for trace capabilties for STM32 aswell, howver not as a primer! Currently using Ride and RlinkPro (we have 4 pcs..) for developement..
Is it possible to use the Signum JTAGjet-Cortex-M3 together with RIDE? And will it give me trace ala what is possible with Keil?
According to this page:
http://www.raisonance.com/tzr/scripts/downloader2.php?filename=T020/file/d8/cd/4datj7g5d1wr&mime=application/pdf&originalname=GettingStartedARM_Ride7.pdf

It seems that we can?

Hi,

Sorry, for commercial reasons this is not possible.

As stated in page 4 of the doc you mention, JTAGJet can be used in Ride only for STRx devices. (STR7 and STR9)
Not for Cortex devices or non-ST ARM7 or ARM9 devices.

This feature will come with the next generation of RLinks and Primers.

Vincent

Sigh...Well I need the trace capability now.
So I guess I will buy the Signum and use the Chameleon debugger for now..

Will you guys provide an upgrade option for existing Rlink Pro owners? Or will we have to pay full price for a new version (And what will that price be)?
Lasstly when will you release this next generation?

Hello Vincent,

now i have the same problem as HenrikH. I have to use the trace capabilities on the SWO output in coming project. The trace feature will currently influence the decision of investicate once in a new IDE for the ARM CM3 Family. We started to evaluate with the Ride7 IDE and its the right for use. But with the lack of the trace it is not suitable for us.

So 2 Questions:
1. will there be an upgrade for the Rlink pro?
2. estimated release for this feature? (Are we talking about month, quarters, years?)

So we will start in 6 weeks with the new project and then we have to decide.

Bests Regards

Holger

So is it possible to trace with RLink-Pro? It sounds like the answer right now is no. Could someone clarify? I would like to use this feature if it's possible.
