Hi,

I'm planning to buy an enterprise license for Ride7 bundled with an debugger. But at the moment I'm a bit confused about the different debuggers and their capabillities. There are 2 debuggers/programmers offered by Raisonance:

-RLink

-Open4

Beside of this, it's stated by Raisonance, that the STLink works with Ride7 since the last update. And what about other debugging probes like Seggers JLink?

The RLink seems to be a normal debugging probe like the STLink but at a much higher price (~20€ vs. 99€), and the Open4 is 159€. I tried to find datasheets for the 2 Raisonance debugging probes to check the differences, but found nothing (speed, possible number of breakpoints, trace capabillities etc.).

So which one I have to choose? I want a debugging probe which is fast in flashing, could handle more than 3 breakpoints and, if possible, have some trace capabillities.

Any help would be appreciated.
Tom

Hello,

Only ST-Link v2 is supported by Ride7 and the Rkit-ARM. Other debugger like Jlink are not supported.

In order to use Ride7 and Rkit-ARM you should activate at least a lite license (81€).
The Rlink Standard (99€) allows to debug and program all the devices supported by the STlink and more:
1. luminary
2. Energy Micro
3. NXP
4. STR7
5. STR9
The license Lite is also provided with the Rlink-Standard.

With the Open4 a lite license is provided.
The open4 is a Versatile microcontroller evaluation and development platform http://raisonance.com/tzr/scripts/downloader2.php?filename=T020/media/2c/07/4w62l5b9injn&mime=application/pdf&originalname=KEOLABS-Raisonance-EvoPrimer-Open4-stm32f429.pdf&moid=97

If you upgrade the open4 in open4 LAB http://raisonance.com/Open4-LAB-Upgrade__product__arm.html, you still keep the development platform functionalities, all the Rlink-STD functionalities (SWD connection only) and it allows also to do standalone programming and monitoring.

I hope it helps.

Best regards,

Hello Etienne

thanks for the reply.

Could you provide some information about the speed of the RLink? Is it faster than a STLink? And concerning the Open4 I read on the Raisonance website that he have some trace capabillities in contrast to the RLink. Is this correct?

Best regards
Tom

Dear Tom,

I forgot to tell you that our tools are supporting ST7/STM8 devices.
The Rlink is faster as the ST-Link the only limitation is due to the USB connection.
The Open4-LAB supports some additional features such as SWV trace and
execution trace.
Please, have a look of the Open4-LAB manual for more information:
