I have an STX-RLINK which I have been using succesfully with STM32A.

I would like to start using STM8A processors but I am unsure whether my current RLink is compatible with these.

The ST website says you can use an RLink but via the SWIM connection, I don't know if this exists on my R-Link or whether there is an updated version My Rlink was supplied with three adaptor boards for ST7, JTAG-ARM and JTAG-uPSD.

If I can use the existing RLink, does anyone know the pin-out of the 24 Way ribbon cable on the Rlink.

Any help would be appreciated.

Paul Hodgskin.

Hi,

The SWIM protocol did not exist when you purchased your RLink, therefore you don't have the SWIM adapter.

You can either purchase a new RLink, or directly use the 24-points connector of the RLink. If you want to do this, you will need the information in this FAQ entry:
http://www.raisonance.com/Forum/punbb/viewtopic.php?pid=8316#p8316

Please note that for now, all versions of RIDE supporting STM8 are only test versions. So you should either use the ST software, or wait one week or two and download the new release of RIDE with full official support of STM8.

Best Regards,

Vincent

Vincent,

Thanks for the quick reply. I would have probably made up my own adaptor board anyway so the link to the FAQ entry is very helpful.

I will gve it a try.

Thanks and Regards,

Note that since the last few months, ST sells RLink with an adapter (ST7/STM8) that supports both SWIM and ICC. This adapter also features a level shifter (to support low voltage).
